Lara Darling

Sketch a day - Day 44/365

Lara Darling has to have teeth surgery tomorrow and I am worried about her. I think she knows as she has been sitting close all evening. She's such a great friend. She often knows things about me before I do. She's forever coming to tell me to get up from my desk. And she always returns from her morning ablutions to cuddle in. She's become my morning reading and meditation partner.

We love who we love.

Anyway I wanted to draw her this evening. She wasn't keen on the idea. She doesn't like me looking at her too intently. So the first drawing is from life and then the 2nd one is from a photo I snapped of her and then I drew it while we sat side by side.

The first one is a bit wonky but I like it the best. It feels alive to me. And captures some of the stoicism she has. She's very brave and doesn't complain but she has pain with her teeth (hense the op).

I have told her if at all possible and if it's part of her plan, if she could come back safe and sound to us tomorrow evening that would be really appreciated.
