Cow Parsley
Sketch a day - Day 140/365
Between sessions working on the play, I did my 5th MAP walk today. It was absolutely glorious to walk into the world and see it looking so beautiful. I had such feelings of dissonance. The beauty and the sadness that is this world. I expect if I could come to terms with this idea I would never need to write another word ever again. Anyway so far I have done 19.3KM of the 107KM total. Chipping away slowly.
On my walk I saw so many beautiful views which I had intended as possible contenders for today's drawing. But in the end I went for the Cow Parsley.
I had no idea Cow Parsley has so many different names (I looked it up on Wikipedia). It's also known as: Mother-die, wild chervil, wild beaked parsley, Queens Anne’s Lace and Keck. Latin name Anthriscus Sylvesris. It is easily confused with Hemlock and Fools Parsley which are poisonous. So don't eat it. Just incase.
I did forage a bit of wild garlic on my walk and made pesto with it when I got home (a late lunch). It's a little tradition to make wild garlic pesto at least once during the spring time. And I realised, when I saw it, that it is very late in the season already. The leaves are very big and starting to go over. Which means it's almost summer time. How did that happen?).
I have to admit to going for it because I needed something quick. I found it hard to relax into the drawing and it shows. The lines are quite jerky and the whole drawing lacks life. Which is frustrating. But it's done.
And that's the news.
