Otherhood R&D day 1
Sketch a day - Day 167/365
Today was the first day of our week of R&D on the Otherhood play.
Its been a day of everyone getting to know each other / a table read of the 1st draft / then a big old discussion about the big questions coming out of that read.
What's working? What's confusing? What are the performance styles emerging? What are the design implications for a show that is traveling to traditional theatre spaces and community centres and social clubs?
It's been very exciting.
I asked the members of the team if they would mind if I did some sketches of them. I warned them that this might mean that I melt their faces. They all gamely said they didn't mind.
So first up for my sketch treatment is Jack Sibley. He’s 1 half of the sound team.
I didn't capture Jack very well in the close up of his face. Sorry Jack. However, the one of him in the space during a coffee break kind of captures the moment well. It's always strange in reharsals, where the space can be full of energy and conversation and noise and then all of a sudden it's quiet and there will be these moments of silence and calm. I think the sketch captures that quite well.
That’s the news.
