Otherhood play R&D day 5

Sketch a day - Day 171/365

Today was the final day of our R&D for the Otherhood play.

We were just Deborah, Leanne, Beth and I. We talked and talked and drank tea. We reread the script and dug into the bits that are working and the bits that are not (yet). Then, we really dug into those bits that aren't working! These are the kinds of moments that are hard for a writer and also, always, always so useful to hear. It wasn't all challenge. There was plenty of fab ‘we love this bit’ feedback too. The shit sandwich came with plenty of sugar.

And then we talked about our shared belief in and love of theatre. At a time when it's very hard in this industry. We talked about how grateful we all are for moments like this week.

And then it was time to say a massive thank you to Dave who (along with Mo) looked after us so well during our week at #Kalasangam. Huge thanks to them and the whole team there, for making us feel so welcome.

There was no sketching in the room today. But this evening I started doing some drawings from photos taken during the week.

This drawing of Rosie was from day 3. She's always tucked away somewhere, beavering away, sorting shit out, averting disasters. ❤️
