Liverpool Mini Trip

Sketch a day - Day 210/365

A mini trip to Liverpool to meet a new squad writer, have a brew and a chat and begin our conversation together.

I am endlessly endlessly endlessly inspired and hearted and delighted by the young writers I meet. It's a wonderful thing to get to have these conversations and get to be joining their creative journey. I really love this job.

Its been a day of thinking and reading and trying to make the most of the travel time to catch my breath. I am not sure how successful that has been.

I am also feeling pretty frustrated with my drawing right now. I had a few minutes before catching my train home to do some sketching. But I can really feel how my energy to look and my patience to create that connection between eye and hand and page is shallow and brittle. I can feel how, even in the last few weeks, the constant rushing to do a sketch instead of putting time aside has had an effect. I am frustrated and bit fed up. But the only way forward is to draw through it. And also to accept that these things ebb and flow. Because life does. It's never a linear process. But knowing this is one thing. Accepting it and working with it is another.

Here we are.

And that's the news.
