Sketch a day- Day 112/365
I follow Liz Steel and I dream of doing one of her on-line classes one day. I have learnt a lot by just reading her emails. I pick over everything she sends out and try and work out how she does stuff from afar.
I realise this isn't ideal. If I had more £ I would pay. And one day I WILL. But for now I can just name check her and say she's inspiring. If you are interested in sketching with ink and watercolour washes her posts fab. Find them here: https://www.lizsteel.com/
Also, I must name check Deborah Rehmat’s wonderful drawings that give me such joy and such a high bar to aspire towards. https://www.instagram.com/deborahrehmat?igsh=MWUzc296NmF5bzh5NQ==
Anyway, Liz Steel does a thing where she sometimes puts colour chunks/blocks on a page and then draws on top of them. I love the results she gets, but I am usually not organised enough to remember to paint in colour, allow for drying time and then more drawing time on top of that.
Tonight though I had a go. Between two playwriting sessions. I did colour chunks during a break and then let that dry while I returned to the writing. Then I finished it off with an ink pen. It was fun. Thou I don't think very successful. I returned to the magistrates court and mirror pool in Bradford. This is my 2nd attempt and I can't seem to do it justice. But this is sketching. The thing always seems illusive. So I will just have to return tomorrow and try again.
And that's the news.
