Sketch a day - Day 161/365
What can I tell you about today?
I feel tired in my bones.
I think the writing and all the emotions (living the emotions in the play / experiencing the world and the emotions that brings up) is catching up with me.
I read an article about how Meta are creating a meta universe in which people will be able to (via immersive tech) experience ‘anything imaginable’ and how the woman who was writing the article said that while she was researching this tech space she came across numerous women who had already been assaulted within it (verbal and unwanted touching). Understandably she has questions as to whether this space is being designed with woman's safety in mind. You can read more here https://www.theguardian.com/society/2025/jun/10/the-misogyny-of-the-metaverse-is-mark-zuckerbergs-dream-world-a-no-go-area-for-women?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other but I can't say I recommend it. Brave New World coming ready or not.
I read about the people of the world rising up in protest as to what has happened to the crew of the Madleen aid boat at the hands of the Israeli army. I heard silence from the governments of the world. So many governments are complicit in the genocide in Palestine. It's staggering. But also amazing to see people's power. It really feels like a global movement to break the blockade is growing. I have to have this hope.
I did a MAP walk. It was truly beautiful. As I walked I left a voice note for a dear friend and it was like having them there with me. Kind of.
There are good things about tech too.
I had meetings about the 1st draft of Otherhood and the questions it is raising for our development week next week. It's so good to be moving the process into making it happen. I am excited to see what /how Deborah, the actors and creative team responded to the text and what we all discover in the room.
I did a drawing of a man waiting at the train station at Crossflatts.I am presently going into town to meet a friend.
That is the news. No editing. Forgive typos please x
