Sketch a day - 256/365
Today was a day of bits and pieces and everything moving with it's own rhythm. That feeling when all the parts of a show begin to click together with stutters and starts. But the shape is emerging.
A day of interviews for insta reels. Of writing programmes. Of edited scenes being run in and re blocked. Of sound and lighting tech being needed and built in. And then finally a public sharing. Not a dress. But a kind of rehearsal. Because it's the kind words of show that can't be completely rehearsed without an audience being present.
The chicken and egg.
We were so lucky to have a group of folks come down from Bradford BBQ to be our test audience. It was amazing/scary/joyous to share the show and get their thoughts and responses. Their generosity is so appreciated. Thanks to all who came.
And also massive thanks to Irene Kaali who came to make a reel for us. The energy, thoughtfulness and joy Irene brings to wherever she goes. We are so lucky to have her in on this journey. Thank you Irene.
So most of my sketches are from watching Irene do her interviews of Deborah, Lisa and Beth.
As ever I melted faces and as ever I can only say that if folks could learn to stay very still while they speak then I might have half a chance of drawing them slightly accurately.
Blimey oh. I am tired and relieved and excited and nervous and hopeful.
That's all I have.
Other than to say free Palestine 🇵🇸 ❤️ 🔥 and also, if ever there was a moment to step up and find a way (all ways are useful, not always have to be loud or big, some ways can be quite and small) to stand against racists and cynical folks who wish to lead us all into their sea of hate. This feels like it's time. Now would be a good time.
