Dandelions and Wood Avens
Sketch a day - Day 131/365
Last week was all about big uncontrolled colour.
And I enjoyed sloshing colour around alot. But she me of the results were frustrating. I LOVE colour but I get so carried away and focused on the detail that I lose sight of the actual picture.
So today I decided to come back into the garden to focus on some of the little / less showy wild flowers that are growing away, doing their thing.
And my goal was to go slow and use colour sparingly.
I suspect, in the long run that I will always have moments of slap and dash and moments of careful sketching. That's me. I can be bothered things. But I feel like it's good to practice focus and control.
I think yesterdays drawings were really a reflection of how I was feeling. I think today's drawing is more about what I am seeing. I think the drawings of mine that I like the best are ones where I manage to meld those things. But manage it very infrequently.
Here we are. We go on.
In other news, I saw a fantastic queer artist on insta today. Just a brilliant brilliant post about Palestine. Finding ways to talk about the atrocity that is going on there amongst their art. Inspiring.
