Goose V Swan

Sketch a day - Day 134/365

Swans have to be some of grumpiest creatures out there.

Always charging around with their handsome feathers curled, looking like an amarda flag ship cruising for some violent action.

Try me punk. Try me.

To be fair. Geese are pretty keen on shouting and shoving and throwing their weight about too.

But in general, they seem to be live-and-let live creatures. If inordinately and loudly proud of their quite unpromising goslings. And prone to shouting matches with their neighbours.

So why is the goose seen by many as a menace, while the swan makes folks think ‘ahh and love and fidelity and oh so beautiful’.

I don't understand this. When I see a swan I think - coersive realtionships, bullying and gaslighting.

When I see a goose, I see a friend.

And there we have it. The sweet, seductive dangers of anthropomorphism.

I am guilty.

So. Instead, let's just say I saw a goose avoiding the water and a swan swashbuckling up and down the canal, defending it's territory.

And make of that information what you will.

That's the news.
