Sketch a day - Day 226/365
While I was in London I saw this stunning 4 horse fountain outside Lloyds bank near Piccadilly station. Lots of tourists finding shade and cooling down near it as I was going past.
I love horse statues very much..i could look at them for hours.
Strange for a bank to choose a 4 horse depiction bursting out from what I assume must be the head office?
It's as if the four horses of the apocalypse have tossed their riders and are rushing out of the foyer. Turning their back on capitalism forever.
Run free dear Dobbin, dear midnight, dear Lichen, dear Blaze.
No. Hang on. Wikipedia ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Horses_of_Helios?wprov=sfla1) tells me that this sculpture is called The Horses of Helios by Rudy Weller, made in 1992. The horses are called Aethon, Eos, Phlegon and Pyrois. Brilliant names.
I have a button on my phone that lets me take extreme close ups of small things. I like getting to see details of my drawings that I couldn't see when drawing.
I had better get back to the play.
That's the news.
